Wanted: Fresh talents for cyber security initiative

Updated: Nov 24, 2021

SINGAPORE: A new government initiative aimed at developing cybersecurity needs fresh talents to advance this sector.

Singapore has recently established a new centre for ASEAN member-states to collaborate on knowledge sharing and training to respond to the potential cyber threats while strengthening regional cyber-security capabilities,

The newly launched Operational Technology Cyber Security (OTCCF) in the city-state is designed to provide a foundation upon which Singapore can attract and develop talent for the emerging OT cyber security sector in the country.

Not only does the OTCCF map the job roles, technical skills and core competencies that are in need, it also captures the possible career pathways, showing the options for vertical and lateral progression.

New talent will be trained in Operational Technology and Information Technology not only because these are required courses in cyber security but also because the demand for job roles requiring both IT and OT has rapidly increased. A program called OT Train-the-Trainer will also be launched.
