CAMBODIA: In preparation for onsite reopening, the country has virtually relaunched its vocational training centres to equip the labour force with appropriate skills required by the current job market.
Cambodia has 199 vocational training centres with more than 60,000 student graduates yearly who also find jobs.
Labour Ministry spokesperson Heng Sour said that while the training centres offered online courses and materials during the pandemic. students will still need to practice their skills in workshops or laboratories.
Earlier this year, reports said that the government will invest $493.1 million for labour and vocational training from 2021 to 2025. The budget will go for the construction of 62 educational institutions, 28 dormitories for trainees, several more training programs and workshops and other relevant materials, as well as more training materials.
