Vietnam issues new entry policy for foreign workers and students

VIETNAM: Having been locked out for much of the Covid-19 pandemic, foreigners with existing visas will now be allowed to enter the country to work, attend seminars and conferences, and study.

According to Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, the new, more relaxed rules will apply to foreigners who were previously invited or had work positions already guaranteed by agencies, organisations, or individuals.

For foreigners who do not have visas yet, the People’s Committees will consider approving their entry with certain conditions for work, meetings, study, or humanitarian activities.

Overseas Vietnamese, their relatives, and foreigners with valid permits can enter Vietnam without going through personal examinations, or further visa procedures again.

Vietnam Airlines said it has implemented the new regulations on international flights to Vietnam.

The number of international arrivals, including citizens, foreign diplomats, public servants, experts, and investors, is expected to exceed 30,000 passengers a week, up from close to zero at the height of the pandemic.
