Thailand to allot THB 2.5 billion in digital development

THAILAND: Around THB 2.5 billion (USD 75.6 million) will be set aside for digital development projects around the country in a new program to be administered by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DSE).

The Ministry will be funding digital projects in the areas of financial technology, health technology, agriculture, and manpower, including HR solutions. The government will be reviewing projects that have been pitched to the ministry between now and the end of March this year.

The Ministry says the projects chosen for funding will accelerate the country's digital transformation, in sync with the new economy and post-Covid normalcy.

Thailand's overall investment spending rose by 59% in 2021, to reach THB 643 billion (USD 19.7 billion). This was boosted by foreign investments sources, including from Japan, China, and Singapore (the top three sources of foreign investment into Thailand last year).
