Study: Work productivity peaks for the first five to six hours

SOUTHEAST ASIA: A recent survey by Milieu Insight has revealed that employees in the region are most productive for only five to six hours daily, usually in the first half of the day.

Of the 2,500 full-time employees surveyed from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, 45% said they were productive for about five to six hours during a typical workday, while 25% said they were productive for seven to eight hours.

The majority of the respondents also said they were most productive from between 8:00am and 1:00pm.

Milieu said these results should guide employers in planning work tasks accordingly. Seminars and other activities that may require less energy, for example, may be better held after 1:00pm.
