Students prefer firms offering better work-life balance: poll

SINGAPORE: Students now favour companies that offer improved work-life balance, friendly work environments, and can position their entry-level staff for high future earnings, according to a Universum survey.

These preferences now supersede job security and professional training and development in the eyes of current university students.

"Singapore's future workforce has had pretty consistent preferences for some time now, tending to favour employers who can offer them strong professional development," said Dora Kuo, Employer Branding Advisor for Universum in Asia-Pacific.

"Whereas this is still highly attractive to talent, employers now need to consider what they are able to offer in terms of flexibility, working environment, and work-life balance, if they want to get themselves to the front of the queue."
