ASIA PACIFIC: Skilled worker shortages are proving to be one of the biggest pandemic-related challenges for manufacturers in Asia-Pacific.
Increased competition, and a litany of supply chain disruptions have also taken their toll, according to the annual Plex State of Smart Manufacturing report.
Still, there is some good news coming out of the sector, with an increasing rate of technological advancement since the onset of Covid-19. The adoption of smart manufacturing solutions has increased significantly, driven by the fast-changing business environment of 2020 and 2021.
In terms of future investment, Asia Pacific manufacturers plan to roll out automation of business processes, automated process enforcement, and supply chain planning over the coming years.
"The adoption of smart manufacturing solutions, such as cloud-based technologies, has become imperative for Asia Pacific organisations to stay competitive and thrive," said Steven Chiu, Asia Pacific sales leader at Plex Systems.
