Singapore claims ninth in study of remote work destinations

SINGAPORE: Singapore is the only Asian country to have landed a place in the Global Remote Work Index's top 10 best countries for remote work.

It ranked ninth among 66 countries included in the index. Released by US based internet services provider NordLayer, the index looked into digital security, socio-economic attractiveness, physical and digital comfort, and prevailing Covid-19 restrictons and responses in evaluating the countries.


Other Southeast Asia countries included on the list were Malaysia (ranked 33rd), Thailand (41st), the Philippines (57th) and Indonesia (58th).


The top eight countries according to the index, were Germany, Denmark, the US, Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Estonia.
