ASIA PACIFIC: If viewed as an opportunity, accommodation of remote and flexible working can be beneficial to talent acquisition.
This is according to a report from talent acquisition firm Cielo that looked at remote working trends in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Remote work has the potential to, among other things, significantly increase the talent pool, improve the diversity of new hires, and fill skills gaps, the research found.
"Hybrid or remote working arrangements are going to be permanent fixtures in the workplace – a trend that started before the pandemic but witnessed accelerated adoption in the last two years," Doug Terry, Vice President of Client Services, Asia Pacific for Cielo said.
The report also identified remote working-related challenges for HR and talent acquisition. These include translating skills-based workforce planning into the hiring plan, which will become more complex when the new combination of on-site, hybrid and remote, and potentially geographically boundary-less working is embraced.
Remote work will also drive the need to train to effectively manage remotely and develop people to work efficiently from anywhere in the world.
