Philippines rolls out One Repatriation Center

PHILIPPINES: The Department of Migrant Workers has unveiled its One Repatriation Center, which aims to provide immediate responses to repatriation, welfare, and other concerns of distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan Ople noted that in the past, OFWs and their loved ones had had to ask for help from various government agencies, incurring needless debts and expenses, and dealing with long periods of anxiety while waiting for the response.

With the newly-launched center, OFWs in distress can access a direct hotline, with access to a team of case officers, welfare officers, and medical professionals. The centre also allows walk-in requests for assistance.

The center will work closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs, particularly in areas where there are no labor offices.
