Moving On Up: New HR leaders at Microsoft, Graas and more

HR APPOINTMENTS: Here’s what’s new and who's changing roles across the HR community in Southeast Asia.



Tech company Microsoft has named Annella Heytens as its HR General Manager for its Asia operations. Heytens reports to the company's Singapore headquarters and leads the People and Talent Strategy department, which is aligned to Microsoft's mission and business goals across the region.


Heytens has over 30 years of HR experience. She previously held the role of Amazon Web Services’ Head of People Experience and Technology for Asia-Pacific, Japan and China (APJC). She also held leadership positions at Cisco Systems and Willis Tower Watsons.


Singapore-based e-commerce firm Graas recently appointed Ujjwal Sarao as the company’s new Chief People Officer. In her current role, Sarao oversees global people strategies and key talent management solutions for the firm.


Based in Singapore, Sarao specialises in in-house strategic business partnerships across Asia-Pacific (APAC). She has also held HR leadership roles in companies like Aegis Media, Dentu and Publicis.




Shipping company DHL Express Philippines has appointed Maricel Bumanglag as its new HR Director. Based in Manila, Bumanglag is responsible for the firm’s HR advice and services. She is also in charge of conceptualising policies and practices.


Prior to being appointed as HR Director, Bumanglag was the firm’s Accounts and Customers Care Manager, where she led a team of customer service executives, promoting a customer-centric culture.
