PHILIPPINES: The latest government statistics show that 3.13 million Filipinos were jobless in February, an increase from 2.93 million in January 2022.
The Philippine Statistics Authority's updated labour force survey also revealed that the national unemployment rate as of February was at 6.4%. It represents the rate of jobless Filipinos 15 years old and above.
Meanwhile, the "labour force participation rate", or individuals who are part of the workforce and are actively looking for jobs, has increased to 63.8% in February, up from 60.5% in January.
Underemployed people, referring to individuals who are partially employed and want more work hours, was at 6.38 million in number. This translates to an underemployment rate of 14.0%.
