MALAYSIA: The Ministry of Human Resources is coordinating with a number of large firms so that more persons with disabilities (PWDs) can gain access to employment opportunities with them.

A memorandum of understanding involving the Social Security Organisation and manufacturer Flex Penang was signed last month. Under this agreement, the SSO will identify and propose PWDs for job opportunitoes and interviews. HR Minister Seri M. Saravanan called on other companies to follow the example.

Flex Penang vice-president P. Viswanathan said the manufacturing company had hired 277 PWDs since 2018, but has plans to accelerate that source of talent, with an expected 150 further hires before the end of this year.
