Ho Chi Minh needs workers as it prepares for "Smart City" status

VIETNAM: The recruitment of qualified professionals to prepare Ho Chi Minh City to become a “smart city” and maintain its role as a leading economic engine in the country is a new priority of the People’s Committee.

Chairman of the local People’s Committee Phan Van Mai urged the municipal Department of Home Affairs to focus on administrative reform, develop online public services and digital communication solutions, improve daily interaction between government and citizens, and work on bettering Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index, Public Administration Reform Index, and Provincial Competitiveness Index.


The chairman said the assignment of the medical centres’ management rights to districts, improvement of local healthcare facilities, arrangement of the organisational structure of the State agencies, and the application of information technology for effective services, all need to be systematically implemented.


The city government’s important missions include improving the quality of urban administration construction, building the specific policies to develop Thu Duc City, turning suburban districts into urban districts from 2021 to 2030, arranging the structure of wards and communes, and digitisation of the administration.
