Healthcare workers may now avail of hospitalisation leave

SINGAPORE: With the peak of Singapore's latest Omicron wave now behind the country, healthcare workers are able to avail more leave options than had been available in the first part of this year.

In particular, hospitalisation leave can now be converted to regular medical leave for those public healthcare workers who have already exhausted their allocation. Previously, workers in that situation had been forced to take unpaid leave to aid their recovery from illness.

Moreover, those who test positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms will be encouraged to recover at home to ease the workload of the remaining medical employees.

Foreign healthcare workers from the Philippines have been granted permission to travel home to meet their families without having to serve quarantine once they return to Singapore. A similar setup is also in the works for healthcare workers from India.
