Government urges employers to prepare for an Omicron surge

SINGAPORE: In light of the ongoing Omicron surge, Singapore's Health Ministry has advised employers to observe business continuity plans in the event where employees test positive for Covid-19.

The number of Omicron cases has risen sharply in the last two weeks, and Singapore should be ready for further waves of infections, the Ministry advised.

"Even if workers who are infected have mild or no symptoms, health protocols will require them to be isolated. As the number of infections could potentially be very large, (the) absenteeism rate can go up very sharply."

Since January 15, workers who were not yet fully vaccinated have been prohibited from going to the workplace. Employees working on-site must also not join social gatherings and ensure they have their meals individually.
