Forbes lists 14 SEA firms among ‘World’s Best Employers’

SOUTHEAST ASIA: Fourteen companies in Southeast Asia have been recognised as among the "World’s Best Employers" for 2021 by Forbes magazine.

Singapore led the region as host country to four of the 14 firms that made the list. The Philippines and Thailand boasted of three best employers each, followed by Malaysia with two companies. Indonesia and Vietnam each claimed one listmaker.

Jollibee Food Corporation, a multinational chain of fast-food restaurants from the Philippines, (ranked #256) claimed the highest spot among the 14 best employers in the region. The two other Filipino conglomerates that made the list were Ayala Corporation (#487) and Aboitiz Equity Ventures (#665).

Singapore’s best employers were Sembcorp Industries (#259), QAF (#262), DBS Bank (#294) and Singapore Airlines (#536).

Thailand’s three honored employers were Thai Airways International (#318), Mitr Phol Group (#497) and PTT (#585).

Malaysia’s top employers were IHH Healthcare (#398) and Petronas Chemicals (#406).

Indonesia telecommunication service provider Telkom Indonesia (#299) and Vietnam’s Vingroup (#566) completed Southeast Asia’s shortlisted winners.

The 2021 Top 10 global list was dominated by technology and electronic companies led by Samsung, IBM and Microsoft respectively. The others that were highest ranked included Amazon, Apple, Alphabet which is the parent company of Google, Dell Technologies , Huawei, Adobe and the BMW Group.

Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to survey of 150,000 full time and part time workers from multinational companies and institutions across 58 countries. Participants were asked to rate the company anonymously on aspects such as image, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality and responsibility.

The 750 companies with the highest scores were dubbed the best employers in the world.
