Much like a romantic relationship, before one can become engaged with their partner, one must first enjoy the experience of being around their partner.
The same can be said for employee-employer. To ensure high engagement, HR must first look at the employee experience.
Employee experience refers to all kinds of situations such as connections and experiences the team will face while at the company. It could also refer to things such as employee sentiment towards the company, its culture, management style, work environment, and of course, salary and benefits.
1. Attracting (and keeping) talent
Motivated, happy employees are more likely to stay loyal to their company and promote the company to their peers, which in turn improves the company’s overall branding.
A study by Gallup found that employees are 23 times more likely to recommend their organisation as a great place to work when they are happy.
For example, there are plenty of social media posts – from LinkedIn posts to Tiktoks – of happy employees talking about their companies.
These word-of-mouth, non-sponsored endorsements help to strengthen potential talent trust in the company.
As for the existing employees, when an employee believes in the work that they do and are engaged at the office, they are less likely to look for jobs elsewhere.

When employees feel positively about the workplace, they are more productive and motivated. Thus, they are more likely to complete their projects and achieve better results.
Teamwork may also be enhanced, as a supportive workplace allows employees to feel confident about their work and less afraid of failure. Good experiences bring people together.

Companies need to keep in mind that the employee experience benefits not only the employee, but the company as a whole.
With higher productivity, the company will also see an increase in growth and profitability.

Employees who feel good about their workplace will do more, learn more, and feel comfortable with taking on more responsibility.
Engaged employees more often choose to develop their careers within the company when they are provided with good experiences.
Vital knowledge then stays within the company, while employees continue to develop their skills and knowledge.

Being miserable in a workplace, especially when employees spend 40 hours a week there, negatively impacts mental health, and leaves employees with less mental bandwidth toward work.
