Factory owners urged to set up own vaccination centers

Updated: Oct 2, 2021

MALAYSIA: Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is urging local factory owners in who employ foreigners to create their own vaccination centres at their workplaces.

Writing on his Facebook page, the Prime Minister added that factories should take care to contribute to economic growth, while not being the center for the spread of a Covid-19 outbreak.

“I have also discussed with the Health Ministry’s secretary-general and the director-general (of health) to ensure that foreign workers no longer have to queue and cause congestion at vaccination centers."

Sabri also stressed the government’s stand in allowing factories to reopen only after 80% of their workers were fully vaccinated.

As of 30 August, 46.6% or 14.9 million Malaysian residents had been fully vaccinated.
