Updated: Aug 25, 2021

In efforts to upskill its riders, the food delivery service is providing training and professional development programs. It is targeting 1,000 riders to benefit from the training and courses by the end of this year.

In the last two years, close to 300 Deliveroo workers have completed at least one online learning course under the OpenClassrooms and Adept Academy platforms used by the firm.

Moreover, families of Deliveroo riders are also able to access 700 online courses through OpenClassrooms. The online courses range from software development to project management to get the chance to diversify their skills and develop soft skills.

Singapore Deliveroo riders can also apply for a scholarship funded by Deliveroo for 6-months associate-level degree programs, in career paths such as Web Development and Digital Marketing, without having to leave their job.

Many countries, including Singapore, saw a surge in delivery services during the pandemic. As reported by The Straits Times, food delivery services in Singapore increased by up to 30% during the first circuit breaker (May to June, 2020).

In addition, Deliveroo Singapore saw an 80% increase in applications for riders during the same time.
