Chocolatier builds new Malaysian centre, adds staff

MALAYSIA: Chocolatier Barry Callebaut will build its new Asia Pacific Business Excellence Center in Malaysia, using it as a hub to provide various operations and corporate services for the company's regional growth.

Barry Callebaut is also expected to recruit more talents for the continuous operation of its factories in Port Klang, Selangor, and Pasir Gudang.

The new Centre for Business Excellence, set to open in Petaling Jaya in the third quarter of the year, will house the company's HR, Finance, Customer Service, and IT departments for the Asia Pacific region. It is expected to provide more than 700 employees with a flexible work environment; and healthy and collaborative work life.

Jo Thys, President for Asia Pacific of Barry Callebaut, said it would create key business benefits, including further standardisation of processes and increased operational efficiency. "Thanks to this world-class facility, we will continue to attract talents from Malaysia, and the rest of the world, to join us in providing chocolate happiness to the people in Asia Pacific," she said.

The Zurich-based Barry Callebaut Group runs more than 60 production facilities worldwide and employs a diverse global workforce of over 13,000 people.
