73% of workers prefer work-life balance over higher pay: survey

PHILIPPINES: The pandemic has shifted the priorities of workers in the Philippines, with 73% of respondents to an annual survey now saying they prefer work-life balance and overall well-being, and happiness to a salary increase or promotion.

The survey, by professional recruitment services firm Michael Page Philippines, showed that 69% of respondents want a hybrid work arrangement between working from home and the office.

Further, 91% of respondents believe their company does not actively take steps to ensure work-life balance and 60% said their workload had increased compared to before the pandemic.

The Great Resignation has also not spared the Philippines, with 83% of employees (including 42% of those who had not been at their current jobs for more than two years) now looking for new career prospects.
